I half-ass stuff all the time. If I put my whole ass into things, my potential to accomplish great things increases exponentially.

Right now, for example, I’m somehow standing upright at Mercury Lounge. I’m operating on very little sleep and am jetlagged out of my mind. I basically fell asleep in the cab ride over here, despite living a few blocks away. But I was determined to drag my half-sleepy self out of bed and see this show.

And here I am. It really is that simple.

Agreed, the end result of whole-assing vs half-assing is orders of magnitude in difference. Multitasking ends up being a way of getting an answer, any answer, to a lot of problems, not THE answer to each problem.

At work I have all my open issues in the Outlook Inbox, and try to have only one message open at any given time so I can put my whole ass into it. Now if only I were able to avoid answering the phone…
